Questions to Ask Before Hiring an Interior Design Company

The right questions help you compare companies fairly, understand exactly what you are paying for and avoid surprises once the project begins.

Hiring an interior design company is a significant decision. Asking clear questions at the start helps you find the right fit and sets expectations for a smooth project.

About their work

  • Can I see photographs of projects you have completed yourselves?
  • Have you worked on projects similar in type and size to mine?
  • What does your design process look like from start to finish?

About scope

  • Which parts of the project do you handle: design, supply, fabrication, installation or full delivery?
  • Which parts would be handled by other contractors, and who coordinates them?
  • What is not included?

About cost and timeline

  • How are your fees structured, and what are the payment stages?
  • What could cause the cost to change, and how will changes be agreed?
  • What is a realistic timeline, and what could affect it?

About communication

  • Who will be my main point of contact?
  • How often will I receive updates?
  • How are decisions and approvals recorded?

About after the project

  • What happens if something needs attention after handover?
  • Do you provide care guidance for materials and furniture?

A trustworthy company will welcome these questions and answer them clearly in writing. At Valdo Interiors we agree scope, responsibilities and expectations with every client before work begins.
